Along a narrow road known to the locals as Victoria Street, Hiliki Houses elegantly stands across the Victoria Gardens.
The two houses are situated in vuga residential area in the old stone town, next to the statehouse,
peace memorial museum, the main courthouse and 5 minutes walk from restaurants, main old market,
seafront water park and the rest of the famous sites (palace museum, old fort, house of wonders etc) in the stone town, a unesco world heritage site.
The TWO HILIKI HOUSES are situated along the quiet Victoria road facing the famous Victoria Gardens, green and lush with colorful boungainvillea and mature tropical trees. They are the only properties in the stone town that enjoy tranquility, calm and greenery.
Next to each other, one is a traditional colonial building with Swahili style décor whilst the other is a 1950s retro building, white-washed with large windows also enjoying swahili décor.
The traditional colonial house, know as « Hiliki House », opened its doors in 2001. Today, it stands as one of the most recommended and appreciated accommodation in the Stone Town. It is famous for its unique location, its élégant swahili decor, the magnificient living room where breakfast is served and the comfort of being « at home but away from home ».
In response to the growing popularity of Hiliki House, we recently expanded to the classic 1950 retro property next door. Known as « Hiliki Retro», the new house consists of 6 rooms, all airy, spacious, bright, beautifully decorated and self-contained. Our guests have the pleasure of eating breakfast on the roof top terrace with an outstanding view or relaxing in the front garden.
« All the modern and créature comforts can be expected (hot showers, internet, air conditioning, mosquito nets, crisp and clean sheets) but you could be forgiven for feeling like you stepped back in time as the personal guest of an old Zanzibari Family »
Hiliki houses are located in Vuga area, next to the Statehouse, Peace Memorial Museums, the Court House and 5 minutes walk from all the famous sites in the Stone Town (House of Wonders, Old Fort, Museums etc.)
